In the stacks

I spent an hour this afternoon in the stacks of one of the world's greatest libraries - the 10-million-volume library of the University of Illinois - and came away with the following small treasures:

  • Christopher Derrick - The Rule of Peace: St. Benedict and the European Future
  • Christopher Dawson - The Formation of Christendom
  • Christopher Dawson - The Crisis of Western Education
  • Christopher Dawson - Understanding Europe

I hope to post excerpts as I have a chance to read them.

Just think what you'll find when you get out of the "Christopher" aisle! The "Thomas" aisle will knock you dead!

I agree about the library. I spent a few days in it years ago and it is fffffffantastic.

Metaphysics is the finding of bad reasons for what we believe upon instinct, but to find these reasons is no less an instinct.
