Via Mr. O'Rama. Bit late, who cares?
1. Who are your favorite cartoon characters?
Bugs Bunny and Wile E. Coyote, Super Genius. Is there a correlation between religious order and favorite cartoon characters? Seriously. Mr. Dominican and Mr. Carmelite, who are your favorites?
2. Have you yet reached the point where you feel like you are from a different generation than today's youth?
Yep. Damn kids need to pull up their damn pants and turn down the damn bass. Dammit.
3. What was the first Music Video that really impressed you? What made it so amazing?
A friend's dad had one of those early 80s satellite dishes in his back yard - you know, the 20-foot-wide metal monsters - so I'd show up a bit early when picking up Russ for school and we'd get a dose of MTV. The best from then:
Our House - Madness
You Ain't Worth the Salt in My Tears - Martin Briley (anyone remember that one? It had one heck of a hook.)
That dance tune by Men Without Hats (now *there's* a catchy tune!) You can dance if you want to...
They were nifty back then.
4. Name a song and an era that comes to mind when you hear the word "Retro."
Are we not men? We are Devo! "Crack that whip!"
5. How has your life been affected by HIV or AIDS?
It has clarified the importance of fatherhood and the destruction wrought by divorce. Fr. Groeschel has told the story of caring for dying homosexual AIDS patients and realizing that most of them had grown up without fathers. He made the obvious connection (courageously in this day and age) between that and the men's later choice of homosexuality (or, as the local Spanish-language cable station says with a salacious ratings-boosting leer, "HOMOSEXUALIDAAAAAAAD!" ).
6. Yesterday in the USA, we celebrated "Mothers Day," a day where we honor the mothers in our lives. If you were on a "special day" nominating committee, who or what would you recommend that we create a day in honor of?
I dunno - how about Midsummer's Day?
7. Last week, we have several Tornadoes tore through many neighborhoods, destroying homes and devastating the lives of the residents. How would you feel if you lost every possession you owned? Or would it matter? How would you go on with your life?
3 words: "woo hoo - insurance!"
I forgot about Bugs! He and Wile E. have always been favs. Didn't like Donald/Daffy Duck or that Pepe Le' Peu (pardon my French).
