Help! Who knows the complete lyrics to this 1969 Cubs song?

Hey, hey, holy mackerel,
no doubt about it,
the Cubs are on their way!

The Cubs are gonna hit today
they're gonna pitch today
they're gonna field today
come what may,
the Cubs are gonna win today!

Hey, hey holy mackerel
no doubt about it
The Cubs are on their way

They've got the hustle
they've got the muscle
the Chicago Cubs are on their way!!!

Howzat? I didn't peek anywhere on the Internet, either!

I think they made us memorize this (I was in 7th grade).

I can also sing all the words to "Today is Tuesday, you know what that means, we're gonna have a special guest" from the Mouseketeers show. And the Frito Bandito song from the 1960's. I'm handy that way.

I watched the presentation to Ron Santo Today on WGN. Where can I get a copy of songs that are about the Cubs. This would include My Kind of Town-- Chicago is and Hey Hey Holy Mackeral No Doubt about it the Cubs are on there way. This would be a great Gift for a Cub Fan. I had tears in My eyes for Santo and the Cub fans .

Hello, I will never forget listening to all the cubs songs when I use to work with my oldest brother many years ago. I would always hear them say, roll down your windows and turn up the radio, as the cubs are gonna win today.

can you help me with a copy of that song, or where to find it?

thanks, brian.

Is there anything that conjures up the memory of the sound of Vince Lloyd's voice welcoming Cub fans to a WGN radio broadcast more than letting "Hey, Hey, Holy Mackerel!" roll around in your head for a bit? Well, maybe "It's a beautiful day for a ball game, for a ball game today, the fans are out to get a ticket or two from Walla Walla Washington to Kalamazoo; It's a beautiful day for a home run, but even a trrriiiple's OK; We're going to cheer and boo and raise a hullabaloo at the ball game today!"

We all seem to have the same question - but no one seems to know the answer: WHERE CAN WE GET (preferably download) ALL OF THOSE GREAT CUBS SONGS?!! I need them to warm-up for today's 3rd and final victory over the braves - and for the NLCS and World Series games - "Hey, Chicago, What do ya say? The Cubs are gonna win today!!"

At the same time as the "Hey Hey Holy Mackerel" song was in use the White Sox games would always start with that dramatic phrase........."The Chicago White Sox are on the air!!!!" Does anyone else remember that?

As I recall is was on WSNS "The White Sox Network Sports Station!"

Anyone remember Walter "No Neck" Williams?!?!?!

Posted by: AL at October 9, 2003 11:04 AM

The Chicago who? Oh, you mean that Amateur League team down south. :-)

Posted by: Bill White at October 9, 2003 11:10 AM

Yeah...the one that loses every game after briefly hitting first place!!!!!! YIKES :-0

By the way.........right after they would say "The Chicago White Sox are on the air!" they played a particularly good and "jazzy" instrumental rendition of "Chicago!" The best part of the games in those days was the open press box with fans screaming at Harry and Jimmy Pearsol (or however you spell it!) while they were trying to talk! Jack Brickhouse's broadcasts from his soundproof press box were much less colorful. But then again, the action at Sox games in those days was anywhere but the game!
